It is a specialized program designed to alleviate symptoms arising from the vestibular system. People suffering from vestibular disorders experience dizziness, balancing difficulties/falls, postural and visual disturbances. Our therapist will assess your oculo-motor system, vestibulo-ocular system using various tests such as Dix-Hallpike test and the Supine roll test to check for BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). Based on the assessment, your therapist will then determine the cause of your symptoms, whether referral to another health professional is indicated, appropriate individualized treatment plan including devising exercises to help adapt your brain to and compensate for whatever is causing vertigo. Vestibular therapy consists of specially designed exercises to help reduce these symptoms.
It involves consulting with a physiotherapist from the comfort of your home. The session is conducted via a secure online platform and is covered by a majority of insurance providers. A physiotherapist will conduct an online assessment which would include taking a history about the nature of the injury followed by a guided movement screen and injury-specific testing. Registered Massage therapists use their knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body to apply various soft tissue techniques including kneading, cupping, effleurage, and others to help their clients based on their assessment of your condition. They work with your level of pain tolerance to make the therapy most comfortable for you.
At Zenith Physiotherapy we have physiotherapists who are trained in treating TMJ disorders. For your initial physiotherapy assessment, your physiotherapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your TMJ and its surrounding muscles (analyzing the tension in your jaw muscles, range of motion of the joints), cervical spine and both shoulders to determine the structures that might be causing your symptoms. After that your physiotherapist will design a treatment plan for you based on your symptoms and result of your evaluation. The goal of the therapy is to reduce your pain and restore the mobility in your jaw and decrease your symptoms. Treatment plan may consist of joint mobilization, myofascial techniques, jaw exercises, soft tissue massage, modalities including electrical stimulation and ultrasound.
