Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

Orthopaedic rehabilitation refers to the process of restoring function to the musculoskeletal system after an injury, surgery, or disease. It usually requires a combination of therapies, exercises, and medical interventions aimed at improving strength, flexibility, and mobility in muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. The goal of orthopaedic rehabilitation is to help the patient return to the highest level of function and independence possible, while improving the overall quality of life – physically, emotionally, and socially.

Neurological Rehabilitation

Neurological rehabilitation is a specialized program designed for any individual with diseases, injury, or disorders of the nervous system. Neurological rehabilitation can often improve function, reduce symptoms, and improve the well-being of the patient. Overwhelming evidence shows that the human brain is a powerful organ with incredible capacity to change and adapt called neuroplasticity. This occurs in response to alterations to the body or environment as seen with an injury or condition. In neurological rehabilitation, physiotherapists employ the principles of neuroplasticity to improve or create new neuropathways in the brain through various movement based training and exercises to help achieve as close to your previous level of function.

Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Sport injuries can occur through contact or noncontact mechanisms and may be acute and overuse or stress-related in nature and involve muscles, ligaments, or bone. Sports Injury Management is the management of a specific sports injury to allow  people return or continue their chosen sport without damaging or compromising their body. Current evidence shows no significant decrease in sports-related injuries over the past two decades, despite the heightened insight into sports injury mechanisms, prevention programs, and load monitoring techniques in athletes. Preventing and managing injuries and return to sport are major concerns among athletes and their treating clinicians and a risk-free return to competition remains a top priority in sports rehabilitation. Effective sports injury management includes three main components, namely injury prevention, injury identification and treatment, and injury rehabilitation.

Senior Care Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation for seniors refers to a range of specialized programs and therapies developed to cater to the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults. Senior Care is focused on restoring function or enhancing residual functional capacity and improve the quality of life of older people, especially those with disabling impairments and/or experiencing frailty. Our approach at Cogent focuses on restoring function, independence, and quality of life for elderly individuals who have experienced physical or cognitive decline due to aging, injury, illness, or surgery. At Cogent, our skilled team will identify and address the root cause of your condition to help you restore your physical stability and coordination while regaining your control and independence.

Post Trauma Rehabilitation

Post-trauma rehabilitation also known as post-traumatic physiotherapy or rehabilitation, is a specialized branch of physiotherapy designed to help individuals recover their physical function and mobility after experiencing a traumatic injury or event. Post Trauma Rehabilitation is crucial in addressing the impairments, disabilities, and limitations that result from trauma.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is designed to diagnosis and treatment dizziness conditions such as BPPV, vertigo, neuritis, imbalance and the management of concussion-related symptoms. The vestibular system in conjunction with your vision and sensation is how the body maintains balance and posture. It is responsible for relaying information to the brain about changes in your head position, corrects your body position and maintains the positions of your eyes during movement. Any problems in the vestibular system can cause a mismatch in signals between the systems that together are responsible for balance leading to dizziness or vertigo and poor balance. Vestibular rehabilitation is focused on reducing your symptoms and getting you back to independent living.
