Unlock The Key To Your Pain Relief At The Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic

Get Started Today On Your Road To Your Healthier And Happier Life.

Physiotherapy

We work with you to help relieve pain, regain motion and restore your function. Our expertise in rehabilitation helps us to find solutions for your musculoskeletal pain whether it is from an accident, a repetitive strain or even when the cause is hard to identify. Although addressing an injury early is ideal, we have the experience to work with you whether your condition is chronic, recurrent or of recent onset. Our extensive experience allows us to find solutions when your recovery is complicated by pre-existing issues or co-existing health concerns i.e. neurological conditions, spinal surgery, etc.

Massage Therapy

Massage can speed recovery and is a powerful tool in the treatment of both chronic (long-term) and acute (brief and severe) soft tissue injuries.  It promotes an overal physical well-being and can be used to improve physical perfomance and body awareness. Our experienced Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) work with your body’s soft tissues, including muscles, skin and connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, nerves and membranes. If applied soon enough after accidents involving trauma or injury, Registered Massage Therapy can greatly reduce inflammation as well as the development of painful muscular compensatory patterns which are often a result of pain and injury i.e. piriformis syndrome, iliotibial band syndrome, etc.

Chiropractic

Chiropractors are manual therapists that can offer a wide range of treatment plans catered to your specific injuries, conditions, and comfort level. Chiropractors not only treat the spine but the entire musculoskeletal system of the body. Chiropractors are trained to use a multimodal treatment plan that consists of joint mobilizations, rehabilitation exercises, soft tissue therapy, joint manipulations, and acupuncture. Our chiropractors also collaborate with other healthcare providers at the Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic (physiotherapists, massage therapists, kinesiologists) to ensure you are receiving a complete circle of care.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a regulated health care profession that can help you regain your activities while reducing pain! We recommend Kinesiology when you’ve been injured and haven’t been able to regain your active lifestyle without fear of re-injuring or when you’re returning to training after an injury or illness. Kinesiology also prevents re-injuries from occurring by improving your strength, endurance and flexibility and then teaching you to apply these changes to restore efficient movement in your sports and everyday life. Our registered kinesiologists can work with your physician or other health care professional to coordinate your care. Many people with chronic painful conditions and diseases are known to attain a better quality of life when an an age and condition-appropriate exercise management program is incorporated into their treatment plan.

Acupuncture / Dry Needling

Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting sterile fine needles into certain points on the body, encouraging the healing process and relieving pain. It is based on the points established along meridians (energy channels). Individual points are frequently targeted to treat various conditions. These points often resemble trigger points and/or motor points in the tissue. It utilizes the neurological pain control theory. Dry Needling is a Western approach to acupuncture. In this technique thin needles are used to directly stimulate and release knots and trigger points in muscles. It is also known as intramuscular stimulation (IMS). The technique helps break down adhesions in tissues and muscles, relieving pain and tension.

Cancer Rehab

Therapy at the Orthopaedic Therapy clinic is for individuals with a cancer diagnosis who would benefit from rehabilitation to relieve pain, maximize recovery and help restore function resulting from tissue restrictions, movement imbalances or reductions in physical activity. Our interdisciplinary team works together to develop a program to address your specific needs prior to treatment, during chemotherapy and/or radiation, as well as following surgery. Our approach includes education and self-management strategies to maximize your rehabilitation and to empower you in managing your own recovery.
