Treating your TMJ issues will depend on your specific symptoms and causes. Manual therapy and massage techniques can be used for joint mobilization. Exercise, postural correction, education, stress management skills and dry needling can start to help you feel better.
The sooner you treat TMJ disorders the better. A lot can be done to help with issues of your TMJ by our expert physiotherapists. We can help find the root cause of why you are experiencing your problems in order to help relieve pain and restore natural movement to your TMJ. Afterwards, you can continue on with the exercises we give you in order to to ensure results that last for a long time.
Shockwave therapy is a non invasive therapy that uses low-frequency acoustic shockwaves generated via a handheld device that kick starts the body’s natural healing response within the tissue. Shockwave uses a pneumatically powered hand-piece that generates low frequency radial shockwaves at the tip of the device, which are transmitted to the site of the injury through a conducting gel. This helps accelerate rehabilitation in tissues that are typically slow to heal or have a tendency to heal incompletely.
Unlike most other clinics, we do not charge extra for shockwave therapy treatments!
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program that helps relieve disorders that cause dizziness and vertigo that often stems from the ear. Some symptoms of this are nausea, blurred vision, unsteady walking, decreased concentration and increased tiredness. Treatments to help with these issues can range from hands-on techniques to individualized exercise programs.
Laser therapy is a non-invasive and pain-free form of therapy that uses light energy targeted at inflamed and injured tissues. Healing is accelerated by stimulating ATP production within the cells, which in turn speeds up cell regeneration and alleviates a lot of scar tissue that gets produced.
We use a Theralase Laser that penetrates into deeper tissue allowing us to treat areas in the body that are more stubborn to reach. By doing this, our cold laser will help manage somatic, neuropathic and visceral pain, increase metabolic activity and stimulate the process of nerve cell reconnection to bring numb areas back to life.
Pre surgical rehab (prehab) is vital to positive outcomes before and after surgery. Having full range of motion and good strength around your knee and hip before surgery will result in better surgical outcomes and may speed up your post surgical recovery time.
Our physiotherapists will be happy to book an appointment with you to determine a baseline of information about your general state of health and abilities, muscle strength, functional mobility, and much more. We will also assess your possible need for safety equipment at home, we will assist you in pain management, teach you how to use assistive devices (cane, crutches, walker) and how to identify and prevent possible complications after your surgery.
Sports therapy is a practice that incorporates sports and exercise into a patient’s rehabilitation program to improve overall physical health. Sports Therapy is not restricted to only athletes but also adults, students and all types of people can benefit from Sports Therapy depending on their condition. Sports injuries can be caused by traumatic incidents such as playing rugby, falling off of a skateboard and putting your body under too much strain when it has not developed enough strength to tolerate it. Injuries include but are not limited to sprains, strains, muscle pains and dislocations.
