At Dynamic, we believe that providing you education regarding your injury is essential. Understanding your body and your injury / dysfunction is an essential part of your rehabilitation process. When you come for physiotherapy, we will educate you on the nature of your symptoms or injury and the underlying causes. We will identify and communicate things you can to do to assist with your recovery, and provide details as to what to avoid. We will also do our best to provide you with a reasonable prognosis. All your questions are important ones, so we will take the time to answer them to the best of our professional abilities.
In the past, concussion recovery and return to sport was heavily based on subjective information received from the athlete, and this lack of objective measurement resulted in mismanagement in the treatment and return to activity for many. Science in the area of concussions continues to evolve and has repeatedly demonstrated that the long-term effects of concussion, and especially repeated concussions, can be debilitating and in some cases contributes to fatality. Concussion research has led the way in the development of simple, but comprehensive brain testing for individuals. These tests can be completed pre-season in an uninjured state, so that objective baseline scores can be attained for comparison to post injury states.
It is our belief that many running injuries are caused by deficiencies in running technique and training errors. Poor running technique can also be an impediment to overall running performance. Our running assessments begin with a thorough evaluation and analysis of all aspects of a client’s running. This includes posture, technique, strength, flexibility, footwear, and other training factors. We utilize a slow motion video analysis on a treadmill, looking for any major bilateral differences as well as cadence, foot strike and body position. From this, together with findings from a musculoskeletal assessment, we will provide exercises and instruction to improve technique, strength or flexibility imbalances, and address training errors.

In cases where injuries have kept workers away from the workplace for significant periods of time, insurance providers will occasionally fund re-conditioning, or work-hardening programs in attempt to improve cardio-vascular fitness and overall body strength. In these intensive rehab programs, prescribed exercises are customized to the individual’s actual job tasks to specifically address functional abilities. At Dynamic, we have significant experience implementing these programs, and believe our facility and treatment staff, are well suited and equipped to deliver successful outcomes.
The vestibular system is an extremely complex and important sensory system that gathers and processes information from three main inputs: 1. the vestibular labyrinth located in the inner ear which senses our head movement/position relative to gravity, 2. our visual system, and 3. the somatosensory system, information carried back to the brain from our muscles and joints. The brain processes and coordinates all this information to give us a sense of balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement with balance. It is a fascinating, but very complex mechanical and neurological system!
