Port Moody Physiotherapy FAQs
There are a few different ways to get your best physiotherapy treatments covered in Port Moody, BC.
Were you injured at work?
Then you may be eligible to have your entire treatment covered by WSBC. If you have injured yourself at work you and your employee need to fill out a WSBC claim. You can then go for an assessment at an approved WSBC physiotherapy clinic. The initial physiotherapy examination and first treatment will be paid for by WSBC.
Further physiotherapy treatment is only approved once the claim is accepted. If approved, the WSBC may authorize physiotherapy treatment for up to six weeks. That means you won’t be required to pay anything out of your own pocket and your treatment will be free.
Are you covered under British Columbia Health Services?
There is limited coverage from British Columbia Health Services for physiotherapy. An assessment at a clinic that provides provincial funding is required to determine if you are eligible. To find provincial-funded physiotherapy services, visit British Columbia’s Service website and search for “physiotherapy.”
If you are requesting physiotherapy for an injury or condition that is not work-related or motor vehicle accident-related, you may have the option to pay MSP (Medical Services Plan) Premium Assistance.
For MSP beneficiaries receiving premium assistance, MSP will contribute $23 per visit for a combined annual limit of 10 visits each calendar year towards physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, naturopathy, and acupuncture.
Questions about eligibility, extra charges or reimbursement for insured services should be directed to the Health Insurance BC website.
Are you covered under Employer Insurance Benefits?
Physiotherapy is normally included in employer or purchased health benefit plans. Coverage varies from plan to plan and can range from $500 to unlimited so you need to look into the details of your health coverage. Some insurers require a referral from a doctor to access your physiotherapy coverage. Most clinics offer direct billing so they will manage the administration of reimbursement for you so you can focus your efforts on your treatment instead of managing paperwork.
Yes!
If you can’t make it into a clinic, the best way to replicate the physical therapy you get at a clinic in your home is to let your physiotherapist treat you virtually. Your physical therapist can assess how you move, look at your work set up, look how you have set up your home exercise station and watch you do them. They can then give you specific tweaks and suggestions to make sure you can continue toward achieving your goals. Virtual treatment means you do not have to put off physiotherapy any longer.
