  • Physical Therapy

The goal of physical therapy is to attain a rapid, safe, and lasting return to a high-functioning, pain-free life. In some cases, PT can be part of your first-line of care. Or, sometimes you may be prescribed physical therapy (or rehabilitation) after a surgery. Simply put, physical therapy uses a variety of proven medical techniques to treat musculoskeletal issues. This can be physical impairments, injuries, chronic pain, or limited mobility that affect muscles or joints. PT can also be used to treat balance and other vestibular disorders. We can treat the entire body or specific body parts. Your rehab plan consists of a licensed physical therapist (or PT) assessing your unique condition and prescribing treatment.

  • Vestibular Rehab

Vestibular rehabilitation is a type of physical therapy that addresses issues with dizziness or balance, often related to inner ear issues. The therapy includes a series of exercises designed to reduce these issues that include balance retraining, vision stability training, stretching and strengthening, walking exercises, posture training, and general exercises to decrease dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy may be done on its own. Or it may be a part of a wider treatment plan. It is often part of a post-surgery treatment plan.

  • Post-Surgery Rehab

Also known as post-operative rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation is a physical therapy program focused on re-establishing muscle strength, flexibility, mobility, and joint motion. It is necessary for restoring overall strength and mobility. It can be a lengthy process, but it is essential to help the recovery and healing process after major surgery. It has been proven that working with a physical therapist for post-surgery rehabilitation can kickstart the healing process after surgery and increase the length of time it takes to recover and return to daily activities.

  • Pelvic Health

Everyone has a pelvis, men and women alike. And everyone, can suffer from a pelvic injury. in addition, there are other medical issues affecting the pelvis. This can include incontinence, sciatica, or lower back pain. If this describes you, you may be a candidate for pelvic health services at Peake Physical Therapy in Baltimore, MD (and West Towson). In some severe cases, you may need to see a medical specialist for certain pelvic issues. These specialist could include seeing your OB/GYN doctor, orthopedic surgeon, or urologist. But in many cases, pelvic health issues can be resolved rather quickly with physical therapy.

  • Sports Therapy

Sports therapy (or sports rehabilitation) can be an efficient, safe, cost-effective, and fast way to treat a sports-related injury. If you are an athlete suffering from an injury or issue, you’re likely eager to get back out there and get back on top of your game. Whether you have an injury like a sprain, a collision or trauma, or simply strain from giving your all to your sport, sports rehabilitation can get you back in the game. Sports physical therapists are highly educated and experienced specifically in treating sports injuries. And at Peake Physical Therapy, we know how important it is for you as an athlete to get back to your favorite activity.

  • Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is hands-on medical treatment that uses skilled hand movements to help you manage pain, address musculoskeletal issues, reduce soft tissue swelling, or increase mobility. It is a subspecialty of physical therapy. The aim of manual therapy is to decrease pain, loosen stiff points, and increase range of motion, depending on your specific issue. This manually applied therapy treatment is an extremely effective type of physical therapy.
