The main goal of chiropractic care is the restoration of the natural function of the body’s joints and the relationship to the surrounding muscles and joints. Through many different actions, stresses, and forces placed on the body, joints can become subluxed (jammed or stuck). When the joints aren’t moving as well as they have in the past, the muscles interact with the joint differently causing the nerves to not communicate as effectively. In the miscommunication, the body will experience pain, decrease range of motion, and decreased strength output. That is why our goal with the treatment is to improve the relationship between the joint, muscle, and nerve to have the body moving as efficiently as possible which will then decrease the pain experienced.
Acupuncture has been utilized throughout traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It is mainly focused on balancing the flow of energy, known as qi (Chee). This energy is believed to flow through pathways in the body, and by inserting needles into specific pinpoints, they can rebalance the flow of energy throughout the body.
In traditional medicine, medical experts have taken the concepts of traditional Chinese medicine and studied them to identify strategic points in order to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue in the body. It is also believed to stimulate the body’s natural painkillers.
Many believe that massage therapy is a new, modern trend; however, the history of massage therapy dates back to 3000 BCE when it was considered to be a sacred system of natural healing in India. Traditionally used by Hindus in Ayurvedic medicine to treat injuries, relieve pain, and prevent and cure illnesses, massage therapy was a practice passed down from generation to generation.
The practice of Winnipeg massage therapy, which is performed by a licensed massage therapist, involves the manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues in the body by using various pressures, movements, and techniques. Similar to the benefits of chiropractic care, massage therapy is intended to reduce stress, provide relief from symptoms, heal injuries, and support wellness by slowing down the nervous system.
