Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a sudden, brief, non-life-threatening condition triggered by change in head position that causes a sensation of spinning, either inside of your head or in the external environment. In BPPV, calcium carbonate crystals become dislodged and migrate into the semi-circular canals in the ear. This interferes with signals to the brain, leading to the spinning sensation and imbalance associated with vertigo.

So what is Shockwave Therapy? Shockwave involves direct mechanical force where a projectile is accelerated in the handpiece generating a mechanical pressure wave. The primary effect of these shockwaves is a direct mechanical force that occurs at a cellular level as the wave’s energy passes through tissue causing a controlled impact on the tissue being treated. The result is a biological reaction within the cells of that tissue which causes an increase in blood circulation through the injured
site, and triggers the body to accelerate its natural healing processes. In other words – it is great!
